0800hrs prompt from the short stay car park

Conwy is the classic walled town. Its circuit of walls, over three quarters of a mile long and guarded by no less than 22 towers, is one of the finest in the World.
Conwy also boasts a magnificant marina and wonderful harbour with shops and houses.

Walking invariably includes Conway Mountain, rising majestically behind the town, with it's easy accessability and grand views and there is always time afterwards for some refreshments in the many establishments there.

There will be three memorable walks to choose from:

A Walk from Conwy 2016

Walk Leader: Jennifer Matthias
Walk Distance: 10 mls app
Total Ascent?descent: 2100ft app

'A' Route anticlockwise
We had a glorious day for the recce, the sun was shining, it was warm and clear. The trees were putting on an amazing Autumn show. If the 12th is anything like it you are in for a treat.

We leave the coach probably searching for toilets! (The information centre has them at 20p a time.) Then set off for Conwy mountain, if we are in good weather we may see rock climbing as we reach for the top. The views all around are great. Look out for the Orme, the Estuary and the Castle.

Traversing the top we descend towards Capelulo around the side of Alltwen before taking the road past The Fairy Glen Pub where surprise, toilets! Climbing again towards Foel Lus along  a farm  track. We continue to Ty'n-y-ffrith turning South to join the North Wales Path again going in a SE direction over a ford and footbridge before heading NE towards the Sychnant Pass. The path we then take passes a lake before meeting a minor road which we cross to pick up paths over fields to the edge of Conwy and our return.

What more could you ask for mountains, sea, rivers, lakes and views? The weather to enjoy it all.

B Walk from Conwy 2016

Walk Leader: Beverley Kelly
Total Distance: 8.5 miles
Total Ascent/Descent: 1400ft

A great walk with variety and interest. Majestic mountain with great 360º views, challenging scrambles and grassy walks, woodland pathways, an interesting village and beach walk with stupendous cliffs, leading to golden sand dunes, a golf course and the Mulberry Harbours, Winston Churchill’s secret weapon.

We shall head for Conwy mountain first which commands attention and a challenge for all abilities. We soon are rewarded with views of the castle and the marina. We are heading for the top where a hill fort used to stand getting better views of the Great Orme, the coastline and mountains around, all the time.
As we descend on mainly grass paths we shall bear right to pass a farm and pond heading for  some conifers. This is a steep descent through the trees so we will have to take care but this soon levels to a more gradual descent with glimpses through the trees
We continue to descend on pathways through the village to eventually cross the Expressway and find ourselves on the beach.
The walk back to Conwy is pleasant and interesting, mainly on firm sand as we go round the hump of rock Penmaen-bach.
We enter the sand dunes at the golf course, heading for the estuary and marina with Deganwy on the far bank. We continue on good pathways now alongside the river to reach Conwy harbour and refreshments.
