Exciting Walks planned for 2017 season

We have some great walks planned for 2017
giving a variety of venues and challenges for us all with a couple of new venues added.
Our first walk of 2017 - after the Festive walk and meal at Ings, will be on
Saturday 11th March
when we will be walking from
Grassington a market town in North Yorkshire.
Other venues in 2017 will be;

Hebden Bridge, Eyam, Keswick,Titesworth - The Roaches, Llangollen, Grasmere, Bakewell and Denbigh

If you are interested in joining us, you would be made most welcome as we do have vacancies and we are open to all who love the outdoor life. Join our mailing list to get monthly updates of the walks and/or contact us to come on any of the walks using the Contact Form.

Families are very welcome as long as the children are over ten years and young walkers must be accompanied by an adult.

There are 3 grades of walk:

  • (A) 9-12 miles, heading for the tops if possible
  • (B) 7-9 miles, mid level walks up to 1500/1800ft
  • (C) 5-7 miles, mainly low level after a cafĂ© stop!
All walks are led and ‘recce'd’ to ensure that they are suitable for the potential walkers, so choose a walk suitable for your fitness level and give it a try! It's an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere - whilst walking in the freedom of the hills.
Great relaxation, exercise and lots of fun too!

Walks from Ings January 2016

A Walk
Leader: Jennifer Matthias
Distance: 6+ miles

This walk is mainly on hard paths and minor roads. It can be extended if we have the time and weather to enable that.

After crossing the main road we will make our way into Staveley, where there are toilets. Then we will head south under the railway, which runs from Oxenholme to Windermere. Joining the Dales Way we have an undulating road, which will afford good views on a clear day. Leaving the Dales way we continue on the road towards Borwick Fold before turning onto a gated track, which is downhill, once more under the railway back into Ings.

B Walk
Leader: Gwyn Jones
Distance: app 5 miles
A circular walk to the North West of Ings around Banner Rigg

C Walk
Leader: John Smith
Distance: 3 miles

The recce for this walk took place in dry conditions in mid December by a party of three. Just as well as we were lost at one stage (the map was not easy to follow) when a farmer came to our rescue. We now have it sussed !!

The walk is no more than 3 miles over level terrain - fields, tracks and tarmac - and has some good views. We start by walking away from the pub and under a railway, on up a slight gradient then off to the right across pasture towards Wasdyke. Turn left up a second slight gradient on tarmac to Yews with a further left turn to rejoin the road back to the railway arch and down to the pub.

0800hrs prompt from the short stay car park

Conwy is the classic walled town. Its circuit of walls, over three quarters of a mile long and guarded by no less than 22 towers, is one of the finest in the World.
Conwy also boasts a magnificant marina and wonderful harbour with shops and houses.

Walking invariably includes Conway Mountain, rising majestically behind the town, with it's easy accessability and grand views and there is always time afterwards for some refreshments in the many establishments there.

There will be three memorable walks to choose from:
