C Party Walk Bolton Abbey 2015

Walk Leader: Joan and Shirley
Total Distance: 6+ miles
Total Ascent/ descent: nothing significant (750ft)

It is some years since we walked at Bolton Abbey so we thought you wouldn't mind revisiting this walk along the river Wharfe.  After coffee we go through the hole in the wall with a lovely view of the Priory then on to the bridge over the river - you can use the stepping stones if you want!  The walk continues mainly along the side of the river, sometimes seeing the peaceful shallows with beautiful scenery, sometimes just leaving the side of the river, until we reach the aqueduct, and then Barden Bridge where we turn round and start the return journey.  On the way back we see a different aspect of the river when we pass the fearsome Strid, then on towards the Cavendish Pavilion with a welcome cup of tea.

Although we are walking through woods and through open ground by a river, the path is not flat!  We will not climb any mountains, but the walk is undulating, with quite a lot of 'ups and downs'.
