C Walk from Dufton 2016

Walk Leader: Shirley and Joan
Total Distance: 5 Miles
Total Ascent/desent: 700ft

After partaking of coffee etc we leave the charming village of Dufton for the hills with their spectacular views of the conical peak of Dufton Pike.

So there is a steady climb of approximately a mile but there is plenty of time to allow us to take our time and there are flat areas to take in the scenery. The route takes us along the base of Dufton Pike and alongside the Great Rundale Beck.

We join the Pennine way to make our way down before turning through tree lined paths to reach St Cuthbert’s Church afterwards it is upwards and onwards to return to the village and well earned refreshments.

We were plagued by midges on our first reconnoitre so we took anti insect supplies which worked very well.
