350 July Walks from Keswick

Our next walking will be on

and will be from 

Keswick in Cumbria

Keswick is the Northern tourist centre situated in the Lake District National park and under the massive Skiddaw and on the shore of Derwentwater. It is a pretty town set in beautiful surroundings and you can be assured of three great walks this month.

The Lake District National Park is the largest English National Park, established in 1951. Its 2,292 square kilometres cover high fells, rocky crags, lush green dales, still lakes, vibrant villages, quiet hamlets, sandy beaches and rocky tidepools

The coach will leave the short stay car park to the south of

Formby village at 0800hrs prompt.
Pre-booking is essential.

We will leave the car park after a comfort stop and walk up through the centre of Keswick onto Ambleside Road. As we turn into Springs Road we begin to leave the houses. After Springs Farm we begin our steady climb through Springs Wood towards Castlerigg, passing the mast we have seen lower down we continue upwards to the edge of the wood where we walk out onto the road at Rakefoot for a few yards before turning to climb up to the top of Walla Crag. This is a steady climb and the reward will be the fabulous views as we go.

When we leave the summit it is a downward path to Ashness Bridge.  The steepest descent is just before the Bridge.  Then we walk down the road to the Lake's edge circumnavigating it all the way back into Keswick.  

This is a moderate climb up to 1,243ft, the views are stunning.  You will see Cat Bells, Borrowdale, down the two Lakes and Skiddaw and beyond. We will have plenty of time to enjoy this lovely walk.

C Walk from Keswick

The walk is 5½ miles and takes in two popular beauty spots,Friar' Crag and Castlehead.

A combination of lake-shore,field and woodland paths that give superb views over Keswick. Derwent water and Bassenthwaite makes a most interesting,attractive and varied walk without much climbing.

After having coffee at Booths (adjacent to the car park)we will make our way  through the gardens down to the lake-shore and the landing stages.

Anyone not wishing to do the full walk can accompany us for coffee and down to the landing stage where boat trips are available.
